Following Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness having successfully ended the Scarlet Witch's menace to all existence, for the time being, audiences can now turn their focus to Marvel Studios' next feature, Thor: Love and Thunder. The first complete trailer, which showed Thor's new peacekeeping identity, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Jane Foster's Goddess of Thunder, was released a few weeks ago and it became the talk of the town.
While the teaser offered us our first look at Natalie Portman's Jane Foster wielding the hammer, it had omitted to show Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher, the film's main antagonist. The preview, as interesting as it is, is surprisingly brief, finishing in at just under 90 seconds.
But the trailer, dropped today by the Marvel Studios, has given us a peek into Christian Bale's much-anticipated role as supervillain Gorr the God Butcher. Gorr has already managed to send chills down fans' spines in his white robes, white makeup, and strangely yellow eyes. The inevitable transformation of Christian Bale and his portrayal as a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has startled audiences across the globe.
Christian Bale seems to be accustomed to drastic physical changes. In 2004, he dropped from 180 pounds to around 120 pounds for his role in The Machinist as an anorexic, insomniac manufacturing worker. Then, to play Batman in 2008's The Dark Knight, he bulked up to roughly 220 pounds and built a tremendous physique.
Thor: Love and Thunder, helmed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, hits theatres on July 8.
