Three arrested in relation to Hosapete slipper attack on Challenging Star Darshan

According to the latest reports, three individuals have been arrested by authorities in relation to the attack on Darshan Thoogudeepa. A slipper was hurled at the actor on December 18 in Hosapete of Karnataka, where he was stationed to launch the second song from his upcoming film Kranti. The incident hit the headlines soon after it occurred, prompting several big names in the Kannada Film Industry to come forward and condemn it.

Reportedly, the organizers of the Hosapete event lodged a police complaint with the local authorities, following which the investigation ensued. Hosapete police are said to have assigned different teams to nab those responsible and have been able to apprehend three individuals involved in the attack. The authorities continue their investigation and currently are on the lookout for the remaining culprits, add the media reports. 

Although unsubstantiated, many reports have alleged the Hosapete culprits are Puneeth Rajkumar fans and that the attack was part of the ongoing feud between the two fan groups. Soon after the news about the attack on Darshan broke, social media lent itself as a battleground for Darshan and Puneeth Rajkumar fans to entangle in a war of words, thereby escalating things to a new high. Many noted names of Kannada cinema, such as Kiccha Sudeep, Shiva Rajkumar, Dhananjaya, etc., spoke in support of Darshan and condemned the violence.

Not very long ago, a prominent Puneeth Rajkumar fan association in Bellary lodged a complaint against alleged Darshan fans for making vulgar and distasteful comments against Dr. Rajkumar and his family.

Although Darshan has refrained from commenting on the incident, he did refer to it recently during the launch of the Kranti third single in Hubballi. The actor stated that he, and his many million fans, will not be bogged down by these antics and instead, they will continue to progress. 

Regardless, Darshan continues to make the headlines and mainly for negative reasons. The actor was criticized recently for his sexist remarks about the Goddess of Luck.
