Thudakkam release: Vismaya Mohanlal's film to hit the big screen in May?

The announcement that Mohanlal's daughter would make her film debut in Jude Anthany Joseph's Thudakkam was made in 2025. The movie, which will shortly be finished, is scheduled to open in theatres in the first half of 2026. Here's what we know...

Thudakkam release update

According to online reports, the Malayalam superstar's part of Thudakkam would be shot in two to three days, and the complete filming will be over by February. Additionally, there are rumours that the movie will probably be released on May 1, 2026. Fans of Mohanlal are waiting for a teaser or poster that will unveil Vismaya's character, the storyline of the movie, or the other cast members. 

Thus far, the release of Basil Joseph's Athiradi and Antony Varghese Pepe's Kattalan has been announced in May 2026. Pepe's action thriller will debut the day before the multi-starrer's May 15 debut. This week's announcements suggested that there would be a solid selection of films to view throughout the extended summer break from school.

Thudakkam announcement details

When his daughter Vismaya's first movie, Thudakkam, was announced in October of last year, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal appeared in front of the media as a proud father. His family attended the occasion in Kochi, including his wife, son Pranav, and Vismaya. 

Another important character in this film is Antony Perumbavoor's son, Ashish Antony, who earlier had a small role in Mohanlal's Empuraan. However, details about the Thudakkam crew was made public during the event. The film's music composer is Jakes Bejoy, who is receiving a lot of praise for his work in Lokah: Chapter 1-Chandra. The editor is Chaman Chacko, and the DOP is Jomon T John. Stunt choreography is overseen by Yannick Ben and Stunt Silva.
