Thudarum: Mohanlal, Shobana bring back the charm in arrival teaser, fans say ‘blockbuster loading’

With Empuraan controversies taking a back seat, and a set of new Malayalam movies entering the box office fight, Mohanlal is giving all his attention to his upcoming movie, Thudarum. Shobana also stars in the film, which is helmed by Operation Java director Tharun Moorthy. Lalettan fans are eagerly awaiting Thudarum's release, and the makers have now released a new arrival teaser that features Mohanlal and Shobana quibbling over the star’s beard! Fans, who are excited to see their favorite onscreen pair, commented 'blockbuster loading'.

Mohanlal, Shobana in Thudarum arrival teaser

With less than two weeks left for Thudarum's release, Mohanlal took to social media on Saturday and dropped the arrival teaser. The short glimpse begins with a shot of the house of Shanmugham (Mohanlal), and we see framed photos of the Lucifer star with Kamal Haasan and Mammootty.

We then see Shanmugham trimming his beard, but Shobana’s character enters just in time, cautioning him against chopping it off. She asks, “Why is it anyone’s concern that the beard is there?” Shanmugham too repeats the question, clearly aimed at the social media discussions and trolls surrounding his beard in real life. It needs to be pointed out that a short portion of this featured in the Thudarum trailer released earlier in March. But in the arrival teaser, we get an extended cut. It is wonderful to see both Mohanlal and Shobana, one of the iconic onscreen pairs in Malayalam, in their element, bringing back the charm of the 90s. 

Thudarum arrival teaser reactions

Fans, who are happy to see a glimpse of Mohanlal’s new film, took to the comments section and dropped heart and fire emojis. Comments on YouTube range from ‘blockbuster loading’, ‘evergreen combo’, to Vintage Lalettan Vibes’. 

They also voiced their support for Mohanlal, hitting back at the trolls over the ‘beard’. 

Some netizens also pointed out that the teaser featured the song ‘Chemparunthin’, which is from the 1991 film Mukhachitram, starring Jayaram, Siddique and Urvashi. 

Thudarum, starring Mohanlal and Shobana, will release in theatres on April 25, 2025.
