Thudarum starts streaming, here’s how much Mohanlal-Tharun Moorthy's Malayalam thriller made in theatres

Thudarum, starring Mohanlal in the lead role, has made its much-awaited OTT release on JioHotstar on May 30, 2025. The Malayalam film, helmed by Operation Java director Tharun Moorthy, opened to overwhelming reviews from critics and audiences, raking in stellar numbers at the box office. As the film hits the OTT space, let's check out how much Thudarum made in theatres

Thudarum final box office collection

Tharun Moorthy's Thudarum made Rs 5.25 crore on its opening day on April 25, 2025, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. The box office collection of Mohanlal-starrer was on an upward trajectory ever since then, thanks to the initial positive responses for the film, which released in theatres with hardly any promotions. The film was also dubbed and released in Tamil and Telugu. Within 33 days at the ticket window, Thudarum recorded a worldwide collection of Rs 233.5 crore, as pr the figures on the Sacnilk website, earning the blockbuster tag.

Notably, this is the second Mohanlal film to notch up the tag. Earlier, Mohanlal's Empuraan, the sequel to the 2019 Lucifer, had also had a stellar run at the box office, making a total of Rs 266.75 crore in worldwide collections, the Sacnilk website reported.

Thudarum on OTT

With Thudarum landing on OTT, viewers who missed the film in theatres and Lalettan fans have tuned in to JioHotstar to watch the movie. Several of the fans have started posting their favourite moments from the Mohanlal starrer. One of the most shared scenes online is when an emotional Benz (Mohanlal) is left crying in the bathroom, slips and falls down.

Mohanlal's fight scenes in the police station are also getting much love and appreciation from the netizens.

For those of you who are yet to watch the film, Mohanlal plays Benz Shanmugham, who sets out to exact revenge after his loved one is harmed. Along with Mohanlal, Prakash Varma brings his A-game to the film, elevating KR Sunil's story with their performances. Binu Pappu also plays a key role in this film along with Farhaan Faasil and Maniyanpilla Raju. Shobana, Thomas Mathew and Amritha Varshini form Benz's much-loved family.
