Thudarum, based on a plot by KR Sunil, that Tharun developed, released in theatres on April 25, 2025, making it the second release for Mohanlal after L2: Empuraan, the sequel of Lucifer , which, dropped on OTT a day earlier. The response to the film has been overwhelmingly positive, with comments suggesting that Mohanlal has a blockbuster loading. Netizens have begun urging the makers not to sell remake rights, and instead dub Thudarum in other languages at the earliest and release it in those centres.
What has also excited hardcore Lal fans is that Tharun has used the opportunity given to him to show how a fanboy movie has to be made.
