Kamal Haasan's recently released film Thug Life has been a huge disappointment for fans and audience who had been eagerly waiting for the Panchathanthiram actor to reunite with filmmaker Mani Ratnam after their iconic film Nayakan. However, with Thug Life not doing well, the film's overall worldwide collection stands at Rs 52 crore at the end of three days.

The gangster action drama, which failed to impress the audience, had reached half of 100-crore milestone, however. Featuring actors Simbu, Trisha, Ashok Selvan, Nasser, Abhirami, Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and lot others, Thug Life marks the reunion of Kamal Haasan and the Anjali director after 38 long years since the release of their film Nayakan.

Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film. Thug Life will premiere eight weeks, after the theatrical run, revealed Kamal Haasan earlier. The film is produced by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies, with music by AR Rahman. While the music album was met with positive reception, the writing of Thug Life was heavily criticised.

Thug Life revolves around an aged gangster who adopts a little boy during a shootout and declares him his heir in his absence. However, the son soon turns against him after certain revelations, prompting for a duel between the two. With a story that stemmed out of Kamal Haasan, Thug Life is co-written by the Thenali actor along with the director. Ravi K Chandran is the cinematographer and the film is edited by Sreekar Prasad.
