Thug Life - Kamal Haasan to take a break from politics for Mani Ratnam’s film? Here's what we know...

Thug Life, the highly anticipated upcoming project, marks the second collaboration of legendary actor Kamal Haasan and veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam. The actor-director duo, who first joined hands in 1987 for the cult classic film Nayakan , is teaming up for the project after a long gap of over 37 years. As reported earlier, the cast and crew wrapped up the first scheduled filming of the film in Chennai, a few weeks ago.

Now, Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam are planning to kickstart the second schedule shooting of the film in Serbia, in March 2024. As per the recent updates, the senior actor-turned-politician, who is also the founder of Makkal Needhi Maiam, aka MNM, is set to take a short break from politics for the film.

Kamal Haasan to take a break a politics for Thug Life?

If the recent updates are to be believed, Kamal Haasan is planning to dedicate a major share of his time to Thug Life this summer, even though the 2024 election campaign is about to begin. According to sources close to the project, the Ulaganayagan of Tamil cinema has no plans to put the project on hold, even though his political party, Makkal Needhi Maiam, is contesting the elections.

The reports also suggest that the legendary actor will soon travel to Serbia for the upcoming second schedule of the Mani Ratnam directorial. Kamal Haasan has reportedly allotted around 10 days for the next schedule of Thug Life, after which he will return to Chennai for the election campaign. However, it has been confirmed that the actor-politician will not be an active part of MNM’s election campaign this time due to his busy schedule.

Thug Life – Cast and crew

Kamal Haasan is set to play the central character Rangaraya Sakthivel Nayakar in the Mani Ratnam directorial. Trisha Krishnan is playing the female lead in the film, which features Dulquer Salmaan and Jayam Ravi in pivotal roles. Thug Life will have a stellar star cast, including Gautham Karthik, Nassar, Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Abhirami, in the supporting roles.

AR Rahman is composing the songs and original score for the project. Ravi K Chandran is the director of photography. A Sreekar Prasad handles the editing. The Anbarivu duo handles the action choreography. Thug Life is jointly produced by Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s home banners, Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies.
