There was much excitement when the album of Thug Life was released. Muththa Mazhai crooned by Dhee, which was subsequently performed by Chinmayi on the stage, was one of the instant hits and most expected song from the album to be seen. However, fans were in for a disappointment when the Kamal Haasan-Mani Ratnam film chose to do away with Muththa Mazhai.

The much-anticipated Thug Life has finally hit theatres. The film, which is directed by Mani Ratnam, is headlined by actor Kamal Haasan, who has written the film along with the Roja filmmaker. Fans were excited for the reunion of the duo, 38 years after the release of Nayakan. However, Thug Life did not resonate much with the audience, and had received middling reviews.

Amid this, the absence of Muththa Mazhai song has further caused dejection among fans. Muththa Mazhai is part of the Thug Life album scored by AR Rahman. Dhee had sung the song in Tamil and Chinmayi had performed during the audio launch event. Fans were going gaga over Muththa Mazhai and had anticipated to look forward for the visuals. Thug Life is a gangster action drama, starring the Vettaiyadu Villayadu star in the lead role. He is supported by a cast comprising actors Simbu, Trisha, Abhirami, Nasser, Ashok Selvan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, Ali Fazal and others. Directed by Mani Ratnam, known for films like Anjali and Alaipayuthey, he produced the film along with Kamal Haasan. Thug Life will release on Netflix after eight weeks.

The film revolves around a mafia kingpin who adopts a young boy after his father dies at a police shootout. However, years later, we see truths coming to the fore, and the two forces now stand against each other.
