Thug Life, the action drama which marks the second collaboration of Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, started rolling in February 2024. The Serbian schedule of the film, which went on floors in March, was abruptly cancelled due to Kamal Haasan’s busy schedule. Meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan and Jayam Ravi, who were part of Thug Life star cast, exited the project due to unavailability of dates. Reportedly, popular actors Arvind Swamy and Nivin Pauly are now in talks for the Mani Ratnam directorial.
If the recent updates are to be believed, senior actor Arvind Swamy and popular Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly are now in talks to play the character, which was originally written for Jayam Ravi, in the Kamal Haasan starrer. The grapevine suggests that the makers of Thug Life are considering both actors for the role, but a final decision is yet to be made.
Arvind Swamy reportedly has a big chance to come on board for the film, considering his long-standing association with director Mani Ratnam. Nivin Pauly, on the other hand, has been eagerly waiting for an opportunity to work with both the filmmaker and leading man, Kamal Haasan, right from the beginning of his acting career. However, we will have to wait a little longer to see who will finally come on board for the film. An official update on the new star cast of Thug Life will come out only after one of the actors signs the dotted line.

As reported earlier, one of the important characters of Thug Life was originally written for Silambarasan, the popular actor-writer. However, Simbu turned down the offer as he was busy preparing for STR48, and the role went to Dulquer Salmaan. But now, the Sita Ramam actor has exited Thug Life as he was unable to allot dates for the project due to his other commitments. Interestingly, the makers of the film once again approached Silambarasan for the same role, and this time, the actor has reportedly said yes.
