American stand-up comedian and actress, Tiffany Haddish has been receiving criticism for her behaviour at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. She has been accused of chasing pop singer Shakira and rapper Doja Cat during the event. Now Tiffany has spoken out in response to comments about her photobombing Doja Cat during the medley performance, which included the songs Attention, Paint The Town Red, and Demons.

In an interview on The Morning Mash Up hosted by Sirius XM, Haddish clarified that what she did was a performance bomb and not a photobomb.

"That was a performance bomb. That was me. I really love Doja Cat, so when she came, I was like, 'Yeah. Wow, girl. Get it girl. I'm so proud of you.' I kept saying, 'I'm proud of you guys," Tiffany said. There has been criticism towards Tiffany for photobombing Shakira at the same MTV event.

A video surfaced where Haddish can be heard loudly calling out Shakira's name while trying to catch up with her as she made her way through the crowd and took photos with her fans. Towards the end of the footage, Haddish even photobombed Shakira's selfie with a fan. Additionally, she photobombed a picture of Shakira and her collaborator Karol G, as well as another photo of Shakira with her two Moon Person trophies.

Following the event, Tiffany faced a lot of online criticism for her behavior on social media. However, she indirectly responded to the backlash in a post on X by expressing gratitude to those who talked about her, whether positively or negatively. She simply said, "Thank you all for making me more famous and relevant."
