Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, and Emraan Hashmi, is a highly anticipated film that is just one day away from its release. The advance booking of Tiger 3 is a hot topic in the industry and the film has sold nearly two lakh tickets at prestigious national chains like PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis on the opening day, one day before its release in India. It is currently the fifth-highest ticket seller for the first day of sales in major national chains this year, trailing only Jawan, Pathaan, Adipurush, and Gadar 2.
However, did you know that the makers have chosen the year's weakest day for the film's release? The producing company, Yash Raj Films, has at last revealed the reasons for its decision. Read on!
Tiger 3 is coming to theatres on Sunday, as opposed to normal Friday releases. The movie opens on November 12th, which is generally a slow day for box office attendance. Rohan Malhotra, the vice president of distribution at YRF, revealed the rationale for it in an interview with India Today.
Tiger 3's release date connection with Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan
He compared the plan to the way Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan was released one day ahead of Republic Day. "We felt that going on Laxmi Puja Day, which is considered the weakest day to release a film, would be a better fit for our film," Rohan stated. "What came to our minds was that it is important for us not to look at the opening day numbers but to focus on what is eventually going to benefit."
He continued by saying that Pathaan benefited from the studio's strategy, which put more of an emphasis on the movie's lifetime collection than its initial release. According to Rohan, the studio thinks Tiger 3 would perform well at the box office because of Salman's star power.
