Gayatri Bhardwaj, Nupur Sanon play female leads in Tiger Nageswara Rao, directed by Vamsee
Tiger Nageswara Rao, the biopic charting the highs and lows of the notorious thief from Andhra Pradesh, was one of the major releases this Dussehra. The first pan Indian film in the career of Ravi Teja featured Gayatri Bhardwaj and Nupur Sanon as the female leads. Abhishek Agarwal bankrolled the film under Abhishek Agarwal Arts while G V Prakash Kumar scored the music.
The film released in theatres on October 20 across Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Tamil languages. Nearly a month after its theatrical release, the film is now out on OTT in all languages. The action drama’s post-theatrical streaming rights were bagged by Amazon Prime Video. The streamer decided to premiere the film this Friday i.e. November 17, much to the surprise of fans worldwide.
In the film, the first version of Tiger Nageswara Rao’s story is narrated by a cop, after the former threatens to overpower the security officers at the Indian PM’s residence in Delhi. In the latter half of the drama, you get to see his story from an insider’s perspective, documenting the various situations that forced Tiger Nageswara Rao to turn a thief and mini-Robinhood for his tainted village Stuartpuram.
Renu Desai, Nassar, Murali Sharma, Jisshu Sengupta, Sudev Nair, Harish Peradi and Anupam Kher played other crucial roles in the film directed by Vamsee (who helmed Dongaata). Tej Narayan Agarwal is the presenter, while Madhie cranks the camera. Avinash Kolla is the production designer and Srikanth Vissa wrote the dialogues. Mayank Singhaniya, Archana Agarwal are the co-producers.
“Tiger Nageswara Rao merits a big-screen viewing for a larger understanding of the tainted legacy of Stuartpuram and its sociological situation. While the colourful life story of a notorious thief deserves a film, the need to make a hero out of him and his endeavours leaves you with mixed feelings,” OTTplay.com's critic wrote at the time of release.
