The latest buzz in B-Town is that Tiger vs Pathaan, which would have been Salman Khan vs Shah Rukh Khan film, is on hold. The reason for that is the production cost going over budget. Given the last venture from YRF Spy Universe – War 2 – did not hit the bullseye as was expected, the makers appear to have put Tiger vs Pathaan on the backburner, at least for now.
Deccan Chronicle quoted a source as saying, “If both the Khans had agreed to take a discount, Tiger Versus Pathaan could have been possible despite Yash Raj’s War 2 flopping. But the budgets being what they are, thanks mainly to star fees, the Spy Universe seems to have come up against a wall.”
What’s next from YRF Spy Universe?
After Ayan Mukerji-Hrithik Roshan’s War 2, which marked Jr. NTR’s debut in Bollywood as well as the YRF Spy Universe, the universe is ready to introduce female-led film, Alpha. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh-led Alpha (also speculated to feature Bobby Deol) is scheduled for theatrical release on April 17, 2026. However, there is no update from the Shiv Rawail directorial so far.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt’s Love & War, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal, has also been delayed. Her husband Ranbir confirmed the same by stating that the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial will release after Diwali 2026 (after his movie Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana being unveiled in theatres).
