Tillu Square: Will a bigger budget, different lineup help recreate the magic of DJ Tillu again?

Right at the success meet of DJ Tillu on the day of the film's release, its producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi had announced that the film will have a sequel and there's enough material to further the trajectory of the titular character. It is now official that the sequel of DJ Tillu, which starred Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Neha Shetty and Prince Cecil, is titled Tillu Square. The cast and crew of the much-awaited film was confirmed commemorating Diwali earlier this week. 

There are a few changes in the team of DJ Tillu's sequel. The co-writer, director Vimal Krishna makes way for Mallik Ram, who shot to fame with web originals Tharagathi Gadhi Daati, Pelli Gola and Adbhutam. Anupama Parameswaran is roped in as the female lead. Ram Miriyala, who composed the title track of the prequel, is the sole music director (DJ Tillu also had Sricharan Pakala). The cinematographer (Sai Prakash Ummadisingu), editor (Navin Nooli) remain the same for DJ Tillu and Tillu Square.

In another major addition, a new production house Srikara Studios has joined hands with Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. Reports also suggest that Prince Cecil won't have a role in the film. It's not new for production houses to go for a few key changes in their sequels. However, Neha Shetty's character Radhika ends on a cliff-hanger in DJ Tillu. It remains to be seen if her character will have a token appearance in the film. 

Neha Shetty did a fantastic job in the prequel and it was widely expected that she'll feature in the sequel too. However, for someone like Anupama Parameswaran, who's largely been a part of romances and family dramas, a wild film like Tillu Square will certainly give a new dimension to her repertoire. There's no doubt about Mallik Ram's potential as a director but a sequel comes with additional baggage. Siddhu Jonnalagadda should make the success of DJ Tillu count and hopefully return with a bang again. DJ Tillu can be watched on aha.
