There aren't many supernatural thrillers in Hindi entertainment and even fewer have origins in Indian mythology. Because of this, Tisca Chopra readily agreed to star in Dahan: Raakan Ka Rahasya. She plays an IAS official in the Disney+ Hotstar production, leading a mining expedition in a Rajasthani village against the inhabitants' warnings that it would release a fatal curse. Director Vikranth Pawar, the man behind the 2013 short film Kaatal, which won a National Award, tries to dispel long-standing superstitions through her character.

Chopra told Mid Day that what she loves most about Dahan is how it perfectly depicts each character's demons and their innate terror. When stuck between superstition and the paranormal and reason and realism on the other, her character, Avani Raut, fights both personal and professional battles.

Along with other actors, Saurabh Shukla, Rajesh Tailang, Mukesh Tiwari, and Ankur Nayyar appear in the September 16 release. Chopra claims that although most horror films concentrate on jump scares, Pawar has crafted a complex narrative that is inspired by traditional Indian practices. She also praises the director for creating complex characters that have their own goals and anxieties.

The actor said that Avani is arguably the most challenging character she has ever portrayed. According to Chopra, who was most recently seen in Jugjugg Jeeyo, her character is obstinate, duty-bound, and a lady who believes in progress and science until she is confronted by phenomena that have no obvious explanation.

The series explores society and its values while forcing its protagonists to confront their greatest fears. The story begins when a mining operation poses a threat to the town, which is home to a mythical temple that, according to mythology, can inflict a fatal curse if damaged. But an IAS officer embarks on a mission to dispel the village's long-standing superstitions in the wake of enigmatic killings and disappearances. The drama, which is set amid Rajasthan's distinctively rocky landscapes, promises catharsis with its use of cursed caverns, stolen gold, and family secrets.
