Tom Cruise, the bonafide Hollywood superstar who makes heads turn with the spectacular stunts that he performs himself in the Mission Impossible series, brushing the risk off his shoulder, showed to the world what he describes to be his most dangerous stunt to date. The Days of Thunder actor drove a motorbike down a ramp and taking off from a giant cliff in Norway, letting go while being suspended in mid-air before opening the parachute into free-fall.
The video clip featuring Cruise and the director Christopher McQuarrie, where they talk about pulling off the formidable stunt bang-on, was shown at Paramount’s presentation at CinemaCon. As per Deadline, Tom Cruise says in the video that this is ‘the most dangerous thing’ he tried to do, and he has been working on it for years now since he wanted to pull it off ever since he was a kid.
As per Deadline, Cruise did skydiving in the air as many as 500 times, along with a rigorous cycling jumping course, where he would jump hills 30 times a day. McQuarrie exclaimed that he is more scared for what lies in store for the next installment of the blockbuster franchise. Tom Cruise has pulled off impossible feats earlier for the Mission: Impossible movies, such as piloting a helicopter through narrow mountain canyons, hung off a plane while taking off, and more.
The six films of the Mission: Impossible franchise have raked in more than $3.57 billion, wherein the Mission: Impossible – Fallout has grossed the highest to date. Mission: Impossible 7 is one of the major Hollywood productions that had to be shut down due to the pandemic and went through more delays after filming resumed in Italy, Norway and the UK.
The film, which stars Cruise as the charming IMF agent Ethan Hunt, is set to hit the big screen on May 22, 2022.
