Marvel Studios has advanced the release date of Tom Hiddleston-starrer Loki to June 9. The new date of the web series, which will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, was announced on Wednesday.
Earlier, Marvel had set June 11 as the release date of the pilot episode of the series with new episodes being released on Fridays. However, in a video released on May 5, Loki had other plans. What started out as a superhero montage was interrupted by Hiddleston’s God of Mischief to make the announcement that: “Wednesdays are the new Fridays.”
The Kate Herron directorial is written by Michael Waldron and also stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E Grant in pivotal roles.
The series follows Thor's unruly brother as he pops up throughout history as an unlikely influencer on historical events. This is made possible by starring the version of Loki from the Avengers: Endgame timeline where he escaped custody with the Tesseract, enabling him to interfere with human history via his own means of time travel.
Earlier this week, Marvel Studios also unveiled another much-discussed video, showcasing the first glimpses from its upcoming films and the release dates. While half the video pays tribute to films from Phase 3 of MCU including live audience reaction to the iconic assembly of superheroes in Avengers: Endgame, the latter half has visuals from Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and also the new title of the upcoming Blank Panther movie that is named Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
