Tom Hiddleston gives a recap of Loki’s life in 30 seconds

The promotion campaign for Marvel Studios’ Loki has been glorious, much the God of Mischief himself. After interrupting an Avengers tribute a few weeks ago to announce the new release date, this time actor Tom Hiddleston gave a recap of Loki’s life in 30 seconds. Almost.

The new video features the British actor who is on a clock to explain Loki’s life story. Beginning with how he was adopted with Odin, he talks about his relationship with his real father Laufey, Odin and his brother Thor. He quickly cuts to his adventures on Earth, to when he stole the tesseract (the first time) and brought the Chitauri army to invade the planet, unsuccessfully.

Tom also speaks about the time he dealt with the dark elves, became King of Asgard, defeated his sister Hela and got killed by Thanos. But then the Avengers go back in time and give an earlier version of Loki an opportunity to escape with the tesseract, he says. And that’s where Tom stops the clock, and that precise point in the story is when he ends up in TVA, a facility from where Loki’s journey in the web series will begin.

With Loki’s time-travelling skill being a major aspect of the web series, it’s also a clever nod by the promotion team to let him control time and pace himself to finish the rest of the story.

The Kate Herron directorial, which will begin streaming on June 9 on Disney+ Hotstar, also stars Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku and Richard E Grant.
