Tom Hiddleston has confirmed that he has completed filming his scenes for the highly anticipated Marvel Studios feature, Avengers: Doomsday. The actor discussed his fifteen-year journey as Loki and offered unusual insight into the next ensemble film's artistic vision in an interview with GQ.

Evolution of the God of Mischief

In 2011's Thor, Hiddleston made his debut in the universe as "God of Mischief." Since then, his character has gone through several transformations, becoming the multiversal "God of Stories" from a main antagonist. During the second season finale of his Disney+ spin-off series, Loki sacrificed himself to protect the MCU's branching timelines, marking the zenith of his metamorphosis.

While discussing Loki's development as a character, Hiddleston said that the hero's decision to stop being villainous stemmed from a personal reckoning. “To become someone different, whose story had a different ending, he had to make peace with the things he did," Hiddleston explains. Instead of being a victim of his betrayal cycle, he was able to take charge of his fate thanks to this shift, he explained. Hiddleston further said, "It gave him the power of authorship over his own story."

Tom Hiddleston's philosophy

Throughout his time in the tenure, the actor has maintained a constant philosophy. Hiddleston, who believes in the inherent "softness" in every person, has always aimed to reveal the real individual beneath the mask. He attributed his portrayal of Loki as a flawed but likeable character to his experiences of feeling less alone after viewing stories that deal with this weakness.

At some point, the topic turned to Hiddleston's role in Avengers: Doomsday, the fifth instalment in the Avengers series. Anthony and Joe Russo are directing the film, which is now filmed and is set to feature Robert Downey Jr in a new role as the villainous Victor von Doom.

Completed contribution

Although Hiddleston was tight-lipped about certain story details, he did disclose that filming is complete. He boasts, "My contribution has been contributed."

According to rumours, the film will bring together the heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well as characters from the Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises, and when asked about the film's scope and narrative quality, Hiddleston was quite enthusiastic.

"It is monumental. The centre of the story is absolutely brilliant and was so surprising when I read it. It just has never been done before," he says of the upcoming film.

We may expect to see Avengers: Doomsday in theatres on December 18, 2026. Steve McFeely and Michael Waldron, who was the Loki chief writer in the pilot season, are back on board as screenwriters for this production. While Hiddleston is busy promoting season two of his spy thriller series, The Night Manager, his most recent remarks indicate that Loki is still an important part of the evolving multiversal universe in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
