In a major blow for Spider-Man fans across the globe, Hollywood actor Tom Holland, who is best known for his role as Peter Parker (or Spider-Man) in the series, has decided to take a break from his acting career.
This development comes at a time when he is being seen on screen in the Apple TV+ thriller series, The Crowded Room – a project which is believed to be his last one before he goes for a break.
In this newly released thriller series, Tom plays a character loosely based on "the rapist" Billy Milligan, a US man who claimed to have 24 alternate personalities. The BBC reported that Milligan was “the first person to be found not guilty of his crimes by reason of insanity - on the basis of an identity disorder - and instead of going to prison, he spent a decade in psychiatric hospitals.”
However, essaying this character on screen was not an easy job, believes Tom Holland, following which, he has now decided to take a break from his career.
In an interview with Extra TV on Wednesday, Holland said, “The role found me exploring certain emotions that I have never experienced before. The off-camera responsibilities had added an extra level of pressure.”
"I'm no stranger to hard work. I have lived by the idea that hard work is good work. Then again, the show did break me. There did come a time where I needed a break and disappeared and went to Mexico for a week and had time on a beach and laid low. I'm now taking a year off, and that is a result of how difficult this show was. I am excited to see how it turns out,” the 27-year-old adds.
Tom Holland and his connect to India
The Hollywood star has a special connect with India. In the month of April this year, Tom and his rumoured girlfriend Zendaya paid a quick visit to Mumbai to attend the launch of Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre.
This launch event was attended by several A-listers of the film industry, including those based outside India. Some of such celebs are Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Gigi Hadid, and Nick Jonas.
