Jhilmil, a character played by Swastika Dutta, started her journey three months ago as Bengal’s youngest mother-in-law in Tomar Khola Hawa on Zee Bangla. However, the anticipated comeback of Swastika has failed to make the desired impact.

Merely within three months, the serial lost its 9 pm slot. And now, in a most dramatic fashion, Zee Bangla is pulling the plug on her ongoing serial as well. Last December, marked Swastika's much-talked-about return to Bengali television. Following that triumphant role, she took up the new challenge as a ventriloquist. The serial started with a prime time slot, 9 pm. However, Star Jalsha’s Anurager Chhowa remained rock solid at 9 pm. Swastika’s serial was later moved to an afternoon slot. Four months ever since the serial will come to an end. The show will reportedly conclude on July 29. The shooting for the final episodes continues unabated, as Swastika herself affirmed.

Though the dazzling limelight may not always find her, Swastika holds a special place in her heart for her endeavors. Just recently, she shared some candid moments from the shooting on social media, mentioning two dear colleagues she would miss dearly – assistant directors Jacky and Shyamal. Alongside the post, she wrote, “They are very caring; I will miss both of them.”

At present, the TRP charts are dominated by several mega serials on Zee Bangla, but Gouri Elo, Mukut, Ichhe Putul, and Khelna Bari, find themselves trailing behind. The replacement of Tomar Khola Hawa with Mukut has proven to be quite a daunting task. Speculations are rife that Mukut may also come to an end. However, according to sources, the serial will continue its run as of now.
