The lingering aroma of cinnamon and gingerbread is usually enough to evoke that Christmas feeling. But if you’re not into baking but want to bring home the festive spirit, opting for a Christmas movie marathon may be in order. Now, when you’re in the mood for a binge with friends or family, romantic comedies tend to be a crowd favorite. Luckily, each December, we’re blessed with multiple feel-good romcoms that pack season’s festive cheer in generous proportion. So, for today’s List hai toh hit hai, we’ve put together some of the best Christmas romcoms you need to watch right away.

Holidate (Netflix)

This holiday movie follows a young woman who is fed up with being berated by her family for being single. When she chances upon a single man, they decide to become a platonic companion for the holiday season. But as it happens in such films, no pretend relationships remain platonic for too long. Sparks fly, cupid does his thing and before we know it, there’s an Aretha Franklin cover being belted out to convey the precise mood. Emma Roberts from Scream Queens plays the female protagonist opposite Luke Bracey in this meet cute.

Single all the way (Netflix)

Romcom buffs may have already watched this one where Peter, a social media strategist has to come up with a, well, strategy to avoid questions about his relationship status when he goes home for the holidays. To sail through without nagging family members, he decides to invite his best friend and roommate Nick to pose as his boyfriend. But before he can introduce his family to his pretend boyfriend, his mother sets him up on a blind date with another man. How things go from here is surely a comedy of confusion that we’re only too glad we signed up for.

Santa clause 2 (Disney+ Hotstar)

The sequel to the 1994 film Santa Claus, follows Tim Allen as Scott Calvin who spent the last eight years as Santa Clause at the North Pole. He was at the top of his game until the Head Elf and the Keeper of the Handbook of Christmas broke the news of there being a Mrs Clause. As it turns out, to save Christmas, Scott needs to get married before the next Christmas Eve. Will he manage to get hitched in time or will this be the end of Christmas? Surely, not a nail-biter this one, but it surely makes for a perfect date night watch.

The Princess Switch (Netflix)

Based on Mark Twain's 1881 novel The Prince and the Pauper, the film follows a Chicago baker who enlists for a Christmas baking competition in Belgravia. It is here that she runs into the future princess and Prince’s fiance and realizes they look exactly identical. To make things interesting, they hatch a plan to trade places with each other. Vanessa Hudgens plays the main protagonist and also stars in the two subsequent sequels. If this one floats your boat, you can always chase it with the two sequels that extend the idyllic royal romance.

The Christmas Prince (Netflix)

If you’re one for royal romances, here’s another. This one is set in the days leading up to Christmas when an American magazine journalist goes undercover in the Royal palace as a tutor to investigate the playboy Prince and his rumors of abdication. But things take an unpredictable turn when she ends up finding love in the unlikeliest place. Rose McIver and Ben Lamb play the lead pair here.

Last Christmas (Amazon Prime Video)

Game of Thrones’s Khaleesi Emilia Clarke plays a frustrated Londoner whose life never seems to go right in this one. Her character works in a year-round Christmas store as an Elf where she meets a handsome charmer named Tom. This new connection seems to be too good to be true but turns out to be the greatest holiday gift she could’ve ever expected. Henry Golding from Crazy Rich Asians plays the male protagonist in this breezy romance.

Falling for Christmas (Netflix)

Lindsay Lohan plays a spoilt hotel heiress who gets into a terrible skiing accident and loses her memory. She’s left to the care of a humble lodge owner and his daughter in the days leading up to Christmas. Stripped of her privileged life, her character must endure a dramatic lifestyle shift as she’s compelled to work at a lodge. But as it happens in films such as this, before she can regain her memory and return to her luxurious life, she will learn vital lessons that will make her appreciate the simple joys of life.

The Knight Before Christmas (Netflix)

Christmas magic does exist and this Netflix movie is the perfect example. In this film, we find a 14th-century medieval knight being magically transported to a small town in present-day Ohio. As he comes to grips with this altered reality, he also happens to fall for a high school science teacher who is averse to the idea of love. Vanessa Hudgens and Josh Whitehouse play the lead pair in the movie.

'Tis the Season to be Merry (Hallmark)

The romantic comedy follows Merry Griffin, a dating advice writer and influencer whose books on relationships feature a fictional character who packs all the traits of a perfect man. To seek fresh inspiration for her next book, she takes a trip to Vermont. It is here that her world and theories about love are turned upside down when she meets a charismatic aid worker called Chris. Sounds like a meet cute you’re destined to stream this week? We sure will!

Happiest Season (Amazon Prime Video)

The Christmas film follows Abby and Harper, a long-time couple who plan to visit the latter's family for the holiday season. As it turns out, Abby is planning to propose to Harper, even though she’s yet to tell her family about their relationship. Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis play the lead pair along with Alison Brie, Dan Levy and Aubrey Plaza in supporting roles.
