That's one of the many Bollywood films that made its way to super commercial success due to its emotional family quotient. That’s the family drama genre where one can find spectacular cinematography, emotions, songs, family fights, a huge ensemble cast, and more.

Mrs. Doubtfire

A 1993 American comedy-drama stars Robin Williams in dual roles as Daniel Hillard and Mrs. Doubtfire, alongside Sally Field, Pierce Brosnan, and Harvey Fierstein. A winner of the Academy Award for Best Makeup and Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture, the movie is surely going to keep you entertained throughout. The story revolves around Daniel, a troubled father who is unable to meet his children post his divorce and devises a detailed plan to move into his ex-wife’s house in disguise as an old woman Mrs. Doubtfire, a nanny. Though he wins his children’s hearts, will his secrets get exposed? Don't miss watching this light-hearted hilarious movie.

Kumbalangi Nights

Kumbalangi Nights is a 2019 Malayalam drama film that features an ensemble cast including Fahadh Faasil, Soubin Shahir, Shane Nigam, Sreenath Bhasi, Anna Ben, Grace Antony and Mathew Thomas. The story is set in a fishing village in Kochi, Kerala that depicts four brothers Saji, Bonny, Bobby and Frankie, who never get along and are very different from each other. When Bobby falls in love with a girl the brothers unite with each other to help him, taking their relationship to a whole new level. It is widely regarded as one of the finest films from the Malayalam industry this past decade, with compelling characters and contemporary themes.

Kannathil Muthamittal

A 2002 Tamil musical war film produced and directed by Mani Ratnam. The film stars Madhavan, Simran and Baby Keerthana, Nandita Das, J. D. Chakravarthy, Prakash Raj and Pasupathy. The film was critically acclaimed and premiered at the 2002 Toronto Film Festival. The plot depicts a young girl Amudha learns that she is an adopted child and requests her parents to help her reach her biological mother. As they venture into the thick jungles of Sri Lanka, they discover her mother Shyama, who is an active member in a militant activist group, and explain the reason for abandoning Amudha.

Kapoor and sons

A 2016 Bollywood family comedy-drama movie that stars Sidharth Malhotra, Fawad Khan, Alia Bhatt, Rishi Kapoor, Ratna Pathak Shah and Rajat Kapoor. The story is about two estranged brothers Arjun and Rahul who are coerced to return to their dysfunctional family to visit their ailing grandfather Amarjeet Kapoor. Emotions pile up when a girl named Tia Mallik enters Arjun and Rahul’s lives.

Attarintiki Daredi

A 2013 Telugu action drama film starring Pawan Kalyan, Samantha and Pranitha Subhash in lead roles alongside Nadhiya, Boman Irani, and Brahmanandam in supporting roles. The storyline depicts a Milan-based well-to-do businessman Raghunandan who wishes to reconcile with his estranged daughter Sunanda. His grandson Gautam Nanda promises to fulfill his wish before his eightieth birthday, enters Sunanda’s house in disguise as a driver and encounters many emotional twists and turns.

A Kannada drama movie released in 2000 starring Late Dr. Vishnuvardhan, Shashi Kumar, Abhijit, Avinash and Prema. The story depicts a well-knit family steered by Shankar, who sacrifices his interests to marry in order to provide a good life for his three younger brothers. A turmoil takes place when the villain Devraj tries to break the family bond, sending Shankar into exile. The three brothers must teach Devraj a lesson and bring Shankar back home. The movie features the legendary actor Late Dr. Vishnuvardhan in a dual role as Shankar and Ganesh.
