Band of Brothers

This 2001 American War Drama miniseries, based on the historic events in World War II, tells the story of the veterans of East Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division of US Army. The show is created by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. The series won Emmy and Golden Globe awards for the best miniseries.

Inglourious Basterds

The 2009 War Action film stars Brad Pitt, Melanie Laurent and Christoph Waltz. The movie is based on a few soldiers who set out on an undercover mission to assassinate Nazi leaders. Apart from its crisp script and commendable acting, the film, which premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2009, also won many awards and nominations.

Saving Private Ryan

A 1998 American War- Drama film, Saving Private Ryan stars Tom Hanks and Matt Damon among others and is directed by Steven Spielberg. The film is set during the Invasion of Normandy in World War II when the US Army Rangers Captain John Miller along with his squad go on a search mission to find a paratrooper, Private James Ryan, who is the lone survivor son after the death of his three siblings.

Schindler’s List

The 1993 Academy Award winner for best film starring Liam Neeson, Caroline Goodall, Ben Kingsley, is based on a story about a German industrialist who is also a member of Nazi party. He recruits Jewish refugees as his employees in his factory and ends up saving over 1000 Jews during the Holocaust.

The 2017 Thriller - Drama written, directed, and produced by Christopher Nolan, is based on the narrative about a group of soldiers from Britain, Belgium and France who are held up in the port town of Dunkirk. Their only way out is by sea, which faces dogged German naval forces.

Fury

The movie stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman. It is a 2014 American war film that portrays the scenario of US tank crews fighting against the Nazis in the final weeks of World War II.

The Hurt Locker

An Academy Award winner for the Best Picture, this war-action movie was released in 2008. Starring Jeremy Renner, this movie dives into a war zone in Baghdad back in 2004. The story unfolds as a team of soldiers from the explosive ordnance disposal team try to defuse a bomb with a lot of caution and protocols.

Black Hawk Down

This 2001 war film is based on the US military raid in 1993 where the US sent its special forces to Somalia to destabilize the government. The film shows how Black Hawk helicopters are used to lower the soldiers onto the ground when they experience an unexpected attack from the Somalian forces. The story unfolds as the US soldiers struggle to combat the gunfire.
