Aadi Saikumar, who scored a big hit with his web show Puli Meka this year, came up with impressive performances in his recent theatrical releases like Crazy Fellow, CSI Sanatan and Top Gear. While both Crazy Fellow and CSI Sanatan are out on OTT already (streaming on Amazon Prime Video, aha) it’s now the turn of the road thriller Top Gear to entertain streaming enthusiasts.
Riya Suman plays the female lead in the film that also stars Satyam Rajesh, Shatru, Brahmaji, Mime Gopi, Narra Srinu, Ravi Prakash in pivotal roles. A first-time filmmaker Shashikanth has written and directed the film shot in a brief span in the early half of 2022. The road thriller is always on the move with a racy screenplay and earned impressive reviews upon its release in December last year.
The story revolves around Arjun, a cab driver who marries his girlfriend Aadhya against their parents’ wishes. Within their limitations, they lead a content life but their world turns topsy-turvy when small-time drug dealers Brahmaji and Rajesh take Arjun’s cab. A gangster Siddharth is inching to catch hold of a huge quantity of drugs transported illegally from Mumbai to Hyderabad. The cops are determined to take charge of the situation. What connects Arjun to this mess?
“Top Gear is an engaging thriller with a sharp screenplay, apt casting and impressive efforts from the technical crew (the cinematography and music in particular). Aadi Saikumar is well-aided by a strong supporting cast while surrendering to the director’s vision. The twists are smart and the crisp two-hour duration is equally helpful,” OTTplay’s reviewer stated.
Produced by K V Sridhar Reddy under Sri Dhanalakshmi Productions, the film has music by Arjun Reddy fame Harshavardhan Rameswar. Sai Sriram cranked the camera for the thriller edited by Prawin Pudi. Ramanjaneyulu is the art director and Giridhar Mamidipally is the executive producer.
