Tourist Family is led by actors Sasikumar and Simran. Although both of them have starred in Petta , they did not have any scenes together. Hence Tourist Family will mark their first onscreen collaboration. Others part of the cast includes Yogi Babu, Mithun Jai Sankar, Kamalesh, MS Bhaskar, Ramesh Thilak, Bucks, Elango Kumaravel, and Sreeja Ravi.
Tourist Family is backed by Nazerath Pasilian, Magesh Raj Pasilian, and Yuvaraj Ganesan under the banner Million Dollar Studios and MRP Entertainment. The runtime of Tourist Family is ideal, with two hours and eight minutes.
The film revolves around a Sri Lankan Tamil family of four who seek refuge in Tamil Nadu. The film explores the difficulties of the family with their fresh start in a new country, as they adapt to the neighbourhood. Told with emotions and laughter, Tourist Family is expected to be a solid family drama. Abishan Jeevinth has earlier stated that he had once thought of making a sequel to Kamal Haasan-starrer Thenali in which the actor plays a Sri Lankan Tamil with number of phobias.
The trailer of the film was recently released by the makers. It begins from where the teaser left; with the family of four reaching Tamil Nadu, but caught by police. The trailer shows how the family is adapting to the new place, as they seek refuge by forging documents to get Indian identity. However, the family finds a tough time adapting to the local accent.
