Tourist Family box office collection day 20: Praised by SS Rajamouli and Dhanush, Sasikumar’s family drama mints landmark numbers worldwide

Tourist Family, the 2025 Tamil comedy family drama headlined by Sasikumar and Simran, and others, has been running successfully in theatres, and has collected Rs 75 crore. The film, which is directed by Abishan Jeevinth in his directorial debut, has also been a subject of praise, with many stalwarts from the industry heaping appreciation.

Tourist Family is one of the recent Tamil films which has been grabbing the attention of many. The comedy family drama hit theatres on May 1. The film, which stars Sasikumar and Simran in the lead roles, has gone on to become one of the most liked Tamil films this year. With its 20-day run at the box office, Tourist Family has collected Rs 75 crore. It had even beaten Sasikumar’s previous highest grossers like Sundara Pandian and Kutti Pulli to become the Ayothi actor’s career best.

Tourist Family is still going strong at the box office, with the OTT premiere expected by the end of May. Directed by Abishan Jeevinth in his debut, the film is produced by Million Dollar Productions.

SS Rajamouli praises Tourist Family

After many industry stalwarts like Rajinikanth, Dhanush, and Anirudh Ravichander praised the film, the latest is director SS Rajamouli. The RRR filmmaker took to social media to say that Tourist Family is “heartwarming and packed with rib-tickling humor” which kept him “intrigued from beginning till end”.

The post-theatrical streaming rights of the film have been bagged by JioHotstar. Mithun Jaishankar, Kamalesh Jagan, Ramesh Thilak, Ilango Kumaravel, MS Bhaskar, Kamalesh Jegan, Sreeja Ravi, and others play important roles. The film revolves around a Sri Lankan Tamil family who sneak into Tamil Nadu and seek refuge illegally. However, a series of events lead to the police investigating the family.
