Tourist Family OTT release: Sasikumar’s hit family drama to face delay in streaming debut and here’s why

Tourist Family, the 2025 Tamil family comedy drama, has been running in theatres successfully for almost a month now. Starring Sasikumar, Simran and others, the film is directed by debutant Abishan Jeevinth. While we had earlier reported that the film will make its streaming debut by the end of May, it looks like the makers of Tourist Family have decided to postpone it. Here’s why.

Featuring Ayothi actor Sasikumar in the lead role, Tourist Family is a recently released Tamil film which has won the hearts of the audience and the box office game, alike. Abishan Jeevinth’s directorial debut is a family drama about a Sri Lankan refugee family who come to Tamil Nadu to lead better lives.

The film released in theatres on May 1, and has been running successfully ever since then. Recently, it had crossed Rs 75 crore at the box office, becoming the highest grosser in Sasikumar’s career, surpassing Sundara Pandian and Kutti Pulli.

While the OTT release of the film was scheduled to take place end of May, it is now reported that there will be a delay owing to the success of Tourist Family in theatres. As per reports, the film will premiere on June 6. JioHotstar, which has bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of the film, is yet to make an official announcement on the release date.

The ensemble star cast includes Sasikumar, Simran, MS Bhaskar, Ilango Kumaravel, Ramesh Thilak, Bagavathi Perumal, Mithun Jai Shankar, Kamalesh Jagan and others. Produced by Million Dollar Studios, it has music by Sean Roldan.
