Despite his debut film Queen featuring a bunch of newcomers, director Dijo Jose Antony could go from one superstar-driven to the next with his second and third movies. Dijo, who is set for the release of the Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer Jana Gana Mana next, could next start work on his Tovino Thomas’ film Pallichattambi, which was first announced in 2019.

In a recent interview, the movie’s scriptwriter S Suresh Babu, who had written Mohanlal’s Shikkar and most recently Navya Nair’s acclaimed movie Oruthee, shared an update on when the film will begin shooting as well as the theme of the film.

The movie will be a ‘mass’ entertainer with Tovino playing its titular character of a thug hailing from North Kerala, who is hired by local church authorities to fight off the communist government that opposed religion in the late 1950s.

Suresh Babu also said that the movie was set to be made on a big budget. However, the pandemic was a prime reason for the delay of the film. The success of Tovino’s Minnal Murali has ensured that the film is on track and the team is set to begin work on the movie soon, said the scriptwriter.

Tovino, meanwhile, recently completed shooting of another ‘mass’ entertainer – Thallumaala, which is directed by Khalid Rahman. The film is touted to be the biggest in his career and also has Kalyani Priyadarshan and Shine Tom Chacko as part of the cast. Thallumaala, which is scripted by Ashraf Hamza and Muhsin Parari, was shot in Kerala and Dubai.

Tovino has also wrapped shooting for Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s Vazhakku and Vishu Raghav’s Vaashi, which also has Keerthy Suresh in the lead. The latter, which completed earlier this year, has Tovino and Keerthy playing a lawyer couple and is touted to be a family courtroom drama. The actor will next begin shooting for Aashiq Abu’s Neelavelicham.
