As expected, following the character reveal video of Manju Warrier’s Priyadarsini Ramdas from L2: Empuraan, the makers on Tuesday released its next character – that of Tovino Thomas’ Jathin Ramdas, who will be seen in the role of Kerala Chief Minister in the second instalment of Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial.
For Tovino, the upcoming movie, which is set to hit theatres on March 27, also gave him the chance to share screen space with Mohanlal. “In Lucifer, I didn’t have a single scene with Mohanlal, but there’s a combination scene in this film. After the dubbing, I felt that it is my best performance in Empuraan,” said Tovino, who had shot with Mohanlal in the US last year for a few scenes.
The actor also talked about the reach that the character in Lucifer had given him, even though his role was limited. “I had approached the character with a lot of curiosity because he was a political scion who wasn’t interested in politics and by the end of the movie, became the chief minister,” said Tovino. “I was interested to know how they going to take their story forward and his arc expands further in this one.”
The Identity actor also said that his dialogue in Lucifer , where he becomes relatable to the people of Kerala, was one of the most requested ones at public platforms. “Once, somebody even requested Rajuettan to repeat that. I told him not to kill my golden goose because that’s what’s been keeping me afloat,” joked the actor.
The team has been revealing its central characters for the past two weeks. These included surprises such as Game of Thrones star Jerome Flynn and French actor Eriq Ebouaney. While Mohanlal and Prithviraj’s Stephen Nedumpally aka Khureshi Ab’ram and Zayed Masood, respectively, are expected to be among the final three, the other one could be Hollywood actor Rick Yune, who has been part of The Fast and the Furious and Die Another Day.
UK-based talent management agency had let out this detail along with that of the casting of Andrea Tivadar, who plays MI6 officer Michele Menuhin in the film, scripted by Murali Gopy.
