Tovino Thomas shares Nadikar Thilakam poster, calls Soubin Shahir a ‘rare, crazy diamond’

Irrespective of how director Lal Jr’s movies have turned out at the box office, they have always managed to present the audience with a fresh experience. His upcoming movie Nadikar Thilakam, starring Tovino Thomas and Soubin Shahir, promises the same.

On the latter’s birthday on October 12, Tovino took to his social networking page to share a poster of the actor’s character Bala from the film, which is set to go on floors only next year in February.

The poster had Soubin in an uber-cool look, dressed in a white jacket, beige pants and rocking a pair of red-brown shoes, along with a swag to boot. Tovino also wished the actor on his birthday saying that “he is like a diamond, precious and rare and his light shines from within”. “Shine on you crazy diamond, because real is rare,” he wrote.

The movie has Tovino playing a “superstar” named David Padikkal while Soubin essays Bala. In a promo video, featuring the BTS moments from a photoshoot, Soubin said that most people will be able to relate to Bala and that was also a reason he could connect to it. “There was once a Bala in me,” he said.

The movie is produced by Pushpa producers Mythri Movie Makers along with Godspeed. In an earlier interview with us, the movie’s scriptwriter Suvin Somashekharan, who had earlier written Joju George and Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Star, told us that it’s a commercial entertainer. “It’s a fun film, which is also realistic. Despite the title, it doesn’t have any acting-related backdrop,” he added.

Lal Jr’s previous Malayalam release was Prithviraj’s Driving License where the actor had also played a superstar, who goes up against a motor vehicle inspector. The movie, which released in 2019, was deemed a superhit and is currently being remade in Hindi with Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi and Diana Penty. The Bollywood remake is titled Selfiee.
