The promotional campaign for the upcoming pan-India film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups has continued with the unveiling of Tara Sutaria’s character poster. The actor joins an ensemble cast that includes Kiara Advani as Nadia, Huma Qureshi as Elizabeth, and Nayanthara as Ganga. The production has defined Sutaria's character, Rebecca, as desirable, enigmatic, and fragile.
In keeping with the film's "dark fairytale" theme, the shared image displays a grittier, sepia-toned look. Sutaria's black, wavy haircut, which falls midway down her back, is front and centre. Her outfit consists of a strapless metallic dress with textured details and black lace gloves. The actor holds the silver revolver with both hands, pointing it towards the side, making it the poster's most striking element. Dust and smoke are illuminated by shafts of light that pass through the crevices in what appears to be a rustic wooden structure in the backdrop. The composition as a whole suggests both high-fashion elegance and aggressive aim.
In Toxic, the character Rebecca is described as someone who "wields powerand guns—like her birthright." Despite her "gilded mess" exterior and desire for self-preservation, she is actually rather vulnerable. This endeavour is a break from Sutaria's established "pretty girl" stereotype, as she is known for her polished and poised parts. She makes her debut in the pan-Indian cinematic sphere with this film as well.
Geetu Mohandas, the director, highlighted an interesting professional interaction during her time working with the actor. "I’ve always felt an instinctive love to protect Tara. Perhaps because she is a guarded soul, or perhaps it’s the armour she’s comfortable with. And perhaps it doesn’t need to be defined. I realised early on that the best way to reach her was not by pushing, not by demanding more, but by allowing her the space to simply be. That choice shaped our equation, which turned out calm, deeply professional, and perfectly aligned. She observed more than she spoke. She listened more than she revealed. And I often wondered if I should guide her more closely. But in her silence, something powerful was brewing. When she finally stepped into her performance, what emerged was nothing short of breathtaking, which was born from an inner understanding she carried all along. She surprised me completely, and in the most beautiful way. I have no doubt she will surprise everyone else too," Mohandas said.
The writers of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups are Yash and Mohandas. Production on the project is underway in both Kannada and English at the same time, with Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam dubbing versions in the works.
Cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, composer Ravi Basrur, and editor Ujwal Kulkarni are among the seasoned professionals in the technical staff. Design for production is done by TP Abid. JJ Perry (well known for his work on John Wick) and Anbariv and Kecha Khamphakdee, who won National Awards together, collaborated on the action sequences in the film.
March 19, 2026, is when Toxic will hit theatres all across the world. Eid, Ugadi, and Gudi Padwa are three of the most important festivals in India that fall on this date.
