A week ago, Rocking Star Yash’s most-awaited next, Toxic, officially went on floors in namma Bengaluru. The muhurtha did not have any of the rumoured leading ladies in attendance – Nayanthara, Kiara Advani and Huma Qureshi - and there was no official confirmation about that from the banner or the leading man Yash, who is co-producing the Geetu Mohandas directorial.

However, within days there were a couple of developments on the Toxic cast front. First, Tara Sutaria, who was rumoured to be the second lead and then put out a cryptic social media post that she will be second to none, posted that she was Bengaluru bound, fuelling further rumours that she is doing the film after all.

And the Bollywood actor onboard Toxic is...

Then came the leaked images from the set of Toxic, which, though not of the best quality seemed to have Huma next to Yash in one and either Nayathara or Tara in the other. And now comes an Instagram update from Indo-American actor Akshay Oberoi, the cousin of Vivek Oberoi. Akshay’s Instagram story included a picture of a goody basket from KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, welcoming him onboard the film.

Akshay is veteran actor Suresh Oberoi’s brother’s son and has been dabbling with Bollywood projects since 2002. His most recent film credits include Fighter, I Love You, Gaslight and Thar, among many others.

Toxic, according to reports, is a gangster tale, albeit as told from a woman’s perspective. Set between the 50s and 70s, it is, reportedly about the drug mafia prevalent in places like Goa. Yash’s new look that still includes a thick beard, but a different hairdo, has already become a talking point among his fans, many of who have tried emulating the same.

The film had earlier been announced as an April 10, 2025 theatrical release, but this is reportedly set to change, since production has started only now. The fact that Prabhas’ Raja Saab has taken up this release date has further cemented this speculation, with official confirmation expected shortly.
