In a little over two months, the much awaited #Yash19, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups, will be in theatres, in the run-up to which, the team has been officially confirming casting that’s been the subject of immense speculation for months. It started with Kiara Advani as Nadia and was followed up with reveals of Tara Sutaria as Rebecca, Huma Qureshi as Elizabeth, Nayanthara as Ganga and Rukmini Vasanth as Melissa. Actors Sudev Nair and Akshay Oberoi have openly spoken about their involvement in the film, especially since the former was a part of the Yash birthday teaser in 2025.
While there are other cast members who’ve been rumoured to be a part of the Geetu Mohandas directorial, with leading man Yash’s birthday on January 8, it is now time to introduce his character. At 10.10 am on January 8, 2026 is when the character reveal will drop. The expectation is for a longer teaser of sorts, bringing together all the cast members, while also shedding light on what Geetu and Yash have been cooking.
Last year, when the birthday teaser came out, while fans couldn’t get enough of Yash’s swag, Geetu had received flak for the objectification of women, especially since she has been at the forefront of calling out misogyny in Malayalam cinema. The teaser featured several scantily clad women in a club setting, with most of the men, including Yash, getting handsy with them and the actor even pouring a drink on one he’d pulled close to himself. Even the character introduction posters of each of the 5 ladies in the film has a fair share of skin show.

Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is Yash’s first release since 2022’s KGF: Chapter 2 and will be in theatres on March 19, 2026, pushed ahead from its earlier April 10, 2025 deadline. The film will be in a box office clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, which is expected to affect Toxic especially in the Hindi market. There’s a lot riding on the teaser and all subsequent promotional material of Toxic to drum up excitement around the project.

As much as fans eagerly await the Rocking Star’s return to the big screen, the collaboration with Geetu has been a spot of bother for them, given the fate of her last directorial and her media interactions in which she’d said that she does not work with a bound script and improvises all the time. That Yash shares writing credits with her has boosted faith in the project, but the final verdict, of course, will be out only on March 19.
