Actor Karthik Jayaram, popularly known as JK or J Karthik, sprung a huge shocker on everyone when he, from out of nowhere, announced that he was going to exit the world of acting. Nobody, especially his fans and followers on social media, saw this coming and the actor, too, refrained from sharing the exact reason behind the decision. All he did disclose was that he has chosen to quit the profession of acting and that his 15-year journey has been a wonderful one; "I was loyal & honest to this profession but everything has an expiry date," he wrote before confirming that Iravan and Kaada would be his final two releases.

It seems that Karthik Jayaram has deleted the post through which he made the surprise announcement but when OTTplay reached out to the actor, he did confirm that, quite indeed, he will be bidding goodbye to acting. When probed further about the reason, Karthik said, "No, leave it".

Well, needless to say, all the JK fans are left heartbroken after learning about the popular star's decision. And yet, a majority of them back him and wished him the best in whatever he chooses to do in the future.

Having earned the sobriquet 'JK' for his role as 'Jay Krishna' in the hit Kannada TV serial Ashwini Nakshatra, Karthik Jayaram gained a lot of prominence on the small screen. He has also played Ravana in the Hindi TV serial Siya Ke Ram and the main antagonist Iblis in Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul.

Recently, the first trailer of 'Iravan', which in all likelihood could be Karthik Jayaram's penultimate film, was released online. Exuding charm and suaveness, JK boasts an imposing presence in the film which, believably, offers him to be quite pompous and larger-than-life. In his previous interviews, he has described 'Iravan' as a crime thriller that has a nonlinear screenplay and a whole lot of twists & turns that will keep us guessing.

Vivek and Advithi Shetty, too, are part of the cast with Ram's Ranga directing the film and Dr. Niranthara Ganesh producing it. In the past, reports have claimed that Iravan could be a direct OTT release but the makers are yet to confirm this.
