The trailer of Selvaraghavan's upcoming film Bakasuran will be out tomorrow. Selvaraghavan announced the same on his social media handle and wrote, "#BakasuranTrailer from tomorrow.. #Bakasuran @natty_nataraj @mohandreamer @SamCSmusic @Mrtmusicoff @Gmfilmcorporat1 @ProBhuvan (sic)." The film, directed by Mohan, has Natty Subramaniam in a crucial role. The supporting cast includes Radha Ravi, Rajan K, rams and Saravanan Subbiah. While the music for the film is by Sam CS, cinematography is by Farook J Basha and editing by Devaraj S.
The teaser of the film was released earlier and it shows Selvaraghavan's character as a ruthless man out to seek revenge. Going by the teaser, it also seems like the film revolves around relationships among young people and see Selvaraghavan torturing people and brutally killing them. There is a line by Natty where he says that parents need to keep a close surveillance on their children and see what they are upto to avoid such incidents. The action sequences are choreographed by Mirattal Selva and the stunt sequences are by Johnny.
The film has been bankrolled by Mohan G, who had earlier made the controversial films, Draupathi and Rudra Thandavam which were described as casteist and dangerous. Both the films reeked of casteist propaganda and were billed as films that created false narratives about inter-caste marriages, social justice and toxic masculinity. While Draupathi explored the caste angle, Rudra Thandavam went a step further and attacked the conversion of Dalits to Christianity. The film also called such Christians, crypto-Christians. Though the crux of Bakasuran is not known yet, Selvaraghavan had earlier stated that the film was about the next generation.
Bakasuran will mark Selvaraghavan's third film as an actor after his sprightly debut in Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast, which had Thalapathy Vijay in the lead. He was later seen in Arun Matheswaran's revenge thriller, Saani Kaayidham, in which he teamed up with Keerthy Suresh.
