While there has been much talk about the big star-driven Malayalam films that have the potential to draw back to the theatres, it could be the ones made on moderate budgets that actually could keep the audience coming. Two very different films – Kunchacko Boban’s Bheemante Vazhi and Antony Varghese’s Ajagajantharam – are set to hit theatres soon and the makers will release its trailer on November 12.

The day itself is a crucial one for the industry as it marks the release of Dulquer Salmaan’s Kurup, which will be the first big Malayalam release after the pandemic. But considering the bookings for the day in 450 theatres across Kerala, filmmakers and theatre owners can take heart that the audience – at least the youth – are ready to return to theatres.

This is a good sign for Ajagajantharam, which has Antony, Arjun Ashokan, Sabumon and Chemban Vinod Jose in pivotal roles. The action-entertainer evolves in a span of a day and is set against the backdrop of a temple festival. Directed by Tinu Pappachan, the movie’s trailer is set to be released by Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithviraj, Vijay Sethupathy, Tovino Thomas and Asif Ali on November 12 at 8pm.

Kunchacko’s Bheemante Vazhi also has Chemban in a prominent role. The movie is scripted by the latter actor and helmed by Thamaasha director Ashraf Hamza, who in an earlier interview had told us that it’s a feel-good movie in which Kunchacko plays an ordinary man who sticks to what he believes in. The film has Chinnu Chandini as the female lead. The trailer of the movie is set to release at 10 am on November 12.

While the makers of Bheemante Vazhi have confirmed a December 3 release date, Ajagajantharam too is expected to hit theatres next month.
