Jessica Alba, who’s not had a film release in nearly 5 years, returns with Trigger Warning, a thriller that is coming to OTT in June. The film by Indonesian director Mouly Surya will drop on Netflix on June 21. Ahead of the film’s release, the streamer dropped its trailer, which is quite action-packed, with Jessica as a special forces commando on a mission to avenge her father’s death.
All about Trigger Warning
In the film, Jessica is special forces commando Parker, who is called back home following the ‘accidental’ death of her father. When she figures that there’s something murky in the circumstances that led to her father’s death, Parker decides to dig deeper, which puts her at odds with a violent gang that controls the town. Undeterred, she leans on her training, and the help of a few friends to get to the truth and set things right in her hometown.
Also on the cast of Trigger Warning are Mark Webber, Jake Weary, Anthony Michael Hall, Tone Bell, Gabriel Basso, Hari Dhillon, Peter Monro, James Cady, Alejandro De Hoyos, Stephanie Jones and Kaiwi Lyman, among others. Trigger Warning is Mouly Surya’s first English-language film. Her films Fiksi and Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts got her Best Director nods at the Indonesian Film Festival organised by the Indonesian Film Board and Ministry of Education, Culture Research and Technology, making her the first woman to bag the award (Citra Award).
While Jessica Alba is no stranger to the action genre, having had her fair share in films like Dark Angel and Sin City, with Trigger Warning, she has upped the ante as far as the stunts go. As Parker, her repertoire is more than just wielding guns with ultra-precision; there’s a lot of hand-to-hand combat and other intense action.
