Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna seem to make a picture perfect pair when it comes to B town couples. The duo have been married for over two decades, but few may know that the beginning of their union had a quirky start. Twinkle had shared the screen with Aamir Khan in the 2000 film Mela, and it seems that the film played a huge role in an important chapter of the former’s love story with Akshay.

On one of his appearances on Koffee With Karan, Akshay had spoken of how Mela had played an important role in his and Twinkle’s marriage. The actor revealed that before the film’s release, Twinkle had been very confident of Mela’s success. She had said that she would marry Akshay, only if her film did not do well. “Fortunately for me, 'Mela' flopped and we got married," Akshay had said.

Aamir and Karan Johar were also present during the launch event of Twinkle’s book Mrs Funnybones in 2015. As per a report in The Indian Express, Aamir had revealed that he had not been aware of Twinkle’s condition, but was glad that he was able to play a part in contributing to Twinkle’s marriage to Akshay.

During the event, Twinkle had also narrated an incident from the sets of Mela where Aamir almost lost his cool with her. She said that Aamir had asked her why she wasn't focussing on work, to which the former responded that she was thinking about Akshay. Twinkle said that Aamir had almost slapped her after hearing the same.

Aamir however, said that that did not sound like him at all. He also added that he thought Twinkle was a fantastic actress, and that he had a great experience working with ehr as well. Twinkle however, said that she knew she wasn't that great an actress, and was glad she quit.
