Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s recent release Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar worked well at the Box Office on day 1. However, the movie has seen a drop on the second day of its release. The drop comes at a time when half of India was celebrating Holi.
According to a report on Box Office India, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has faced 35% drop on day two. While it earned Rs. 14 crores on day one, the film minted only Rs. 9 crores on day two. It did not even touch Rs. 10 crores which is a major cause of concern.
The huge drop in collections came from Gujarat and Saurashtra, which is where movies usually work well. Ranbir’s film faced as much as 70% drop in collections.
More so, places like Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan also did not record any growth. Rather it also saw a fall in collections, as much as 50%. The Chandigarh market would have been huge for this film but seeing the current trend, this movie might just not be working with the crowd.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar worked well in places like Delhi, UP, Bihar and CP Berar. It is to be noted that these are also the places where Holi was celebrated on the second day of the film’s release.
The current total net collections for Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar are Rs. 23 crores. This is very low for the film, considering the cast – Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. It is also one of the lowest collections for director Luv Ranjan.
Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar will have to hold up over the weekends for the film to be able to survive at the Box Office. The movie should have done better but if it can cover the ground over the weekend, then this movie might just have a longer run at the Box Office.
