Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar gathered all the appreciation in theatres and on OTT. Just a few days after its digital release on Netflix, the film is out of the theatres. The movie earned Rs. 128 crores in its lifetime Box Office.

Having such a great run during times when no Bollywood movie is particularly working, is a huge deal for this film. The other factor to note here is that TJMM released at a time when Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan was at its peak.

Ranbir Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor’s film gave Pathaan competition and became the second highest-grossing film of 2023 till recently. The Kerala Story, which released just a few weeks back, has beat the movie to be the second highest-grossing film.

TJMM lasted in theatres for a total of nine long weeks. That in itself is a huge feat for the film. The movie picked up in theatres in week six (most likely after a few scenes from the film went viral). It earned almost as much as its opening week back then. In the first week, TJMM minted Rs. 78.48 crores and in week six, it earned Rs. 76 crores. The collections dropped in week eight to Rs. 7 crores (when the OTT release of the film was nearing) and thus, the movie’s run was coming to an end.

Here’s the week-wise Box Office collection of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar:

Week One – Rs. 78.48 crores

Week Two – Rs. 24.67 crores

Week Three – Rs. 13.15 crores

Week Four – Rs. 4.72 crores

Week Five – Rs. 2.43 crores

Week Six – Rs. 76 crores

Week Seven – Rs. 55 crores

Week Eight – Rs. 7 crores

Week Nine – Rs. 2 crores (5 Days)

Total – Rs. 128.13 crores

While the Luv Ranjan directorial did perform well overall, there weren’t Box Office collections as expected from Maharashtra and Gujarat. This has been a struggle since the pandemic. Before 2020, they were the highest contributing states in terms of theatrical releases.

According to a report on Box Office India, the film earned Rs. 41.50 crores nett in Mumbai, Rs. 32.25 crores nett in Delhi / UP and Rs. 11.75 crores nett in East Punjab. Surprisingly, Mysore also contributed with Rs. 8 crores nett, followed by Rajasthan, which helped the movie earn Rs. 6.50 crores nett.
