Tu Yaa Main trailer is finally here, and there is some clarity on the 'content' this time around. The social media influencers, played by Shanaya Kapoor and Adarsh Gourav, are here with a concept. Their inspiration? A viral scene from Rekha's epic movie, Khoon Bhari Maang (1988).

The characters, who play social media influencers in the movie, seek inspiration and find it in Rekha's viral scene Khoon Bhari Maang. PS: The scene went viral in times when social media did not exist. The influencers try to recreate something similar, except it is not the maang this time around, or at least that's what the final scene suggests. Right from the announcement to the trailer, it appears that Adarsh Gourav's character is the one taking the fall in the movie, thus making it a reverse revenge story (if there is revenge, that is).
What is the original film Khoon Bhari Maang all about?
Khoon Bhari Maang is among one of the more popular female-led revenge dramas in early Bollywood. Directed by Rakesh Roshan, the movie is as famous as Sridevi's Nagina (1986). It is a story about Rekha's character Aarti Saxena, a widow, who suffers the consequences of loving the wrong man Sanjay (Kabir Bedi). She comes back as Jyoti and seeks revenge, thus making the movie one of the most memorable works from Rekha.
Interestingly, there are also comparisons to the Thai film, Pool. In the movie, a couple is faced with a deadly predator after the water level disappears. This is exactly what was shown in the teaser and Tu Yaa Main trailer. However, the announcement as well as the trailer also featured the reference of a sea, thus the Khoon Bhari Maang reference as well. This leaves the mystery about Bejoy Nambiar's Tu Yaa Main still unresolved.
