The Montague distillery – a legitimate business venture to add to his portfolio, that is what Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) was looking for in Season 3 of Tulsa King . Having made a success out of his selling cannabis, cars, establishing a casino and wind energy, the liquor business was the latest that Dwight had set his sights on. For this, he wanted to get into partnership with one of the oldest and most reputable distillers in town, Theodore Montague, but that would mean earning the ire of rival Jeremiah Dunmire (Robert Patrick), who’s been eyeing the crumbling distillery and its rumoured stockpile of 50-year-old whiskey that’s worth several millions.
Season 3 followed the conflict between Manfredi and Dunmire, after the latter killed Montague and went all out to ensure the former could not sell his whiskey anywhere. Of course, Manfredi manages to end the Dunmire threat once and for all, but that does not put him in the clear, after all. He’s still in the crosshairs of the powerful mob boss Quiet Ray (James Russo), whose demand for a share of the proceeds of Manfredi’s businesses had been turned down.
Not one to be trifled with, Quiet Ray had sent a hitman to take down Manfredi, but the killer turned out to be an old pal of the latter, Russell Lee Washington Jr (Samuel L Jackson). Lee disobeys Ray’s order, putting a target on himself too, a threat that he and Manfredi quickly take care of. With Manfredi flourishing in Tulsa and Lee all set to find a footing for himself in New Orleans, Ray will continue to be a formidable adversary for both.
Amid all the trouble with Dunmire and Ray, Manfredi also had to deal with an FBI agent, Musso (Kevin Pollack), who’s got the general running an errand for him – gathering intel on a ruthless bomber. Manfredi more than lives up to his promise and gives Musso the evidence he was looking for, but the best guess is that the duo is not done with each other, especially since a federal liquor license was part of the bargain.
And last, but not the least, there’s former drug trafficker Cal Thresher (Neal McDonough), whose businesses Manfredi had taken over, but has now taken a plunge into politics, with the latter’s blessings. Manfredi, of course, is hoping that having a powerful politician in his pocket will do him good in the long run, but now that Thresher is the governor of Oklahoma, will he still do as asked or is this a relationship that is bound to turn sour?
Besides all of this, Tulsa King will, undoubtedly, introduce a new antagonist for Manfredi and his motley crew to deal with.
