What is the progress of the murder case?

In a significant development in the enduring case that continues to captivate the public, former gang leader Duane "Keffe D" Davis, aged 60, has been charged by US police with the 1996 murder of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur.

The New York-born hip-hop legend was fatally shot reportedly four times at the age of 25 in a drive-by attack in Las Vegas. The US’ Nevada state's grand jury issued an indictment against Davis on Friday, charging him with one count of murder with a deadly weapon.

Police assert that the motive behind the deadly shooting stemmed from a confrontation between Shakur and Davis's nephew in a casino. Davis was apprehended near his Las Vegas residence early on Friday and is slated to appear in court in the coming days.

Greg Kading, a retired Los Angeles police detective who dedicated years to investigating Shakur's murder, expressed a lack of surprise at Davis's arrest. Speaking to news agency The Associated Press, Kading described Davis as "the last man standing," as all other direct conspirators or participants are deceased.

Meanwhile, recently in 2023, Tupac Shakur was awarded a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Shakur was born in New York City to parents who were both political activists and Black Panther Party members. However, whether Shakur’s murder was politically motivated or not is not known yet.
