Twinkle Khanna teases Akshay Kumar: 'How many times will you save the country?'

Over his 30-year career as an actor, Akshay Kumar has explored a diverse range of genres. Several of the actor's recent films have had a patriotic tone. His patriotic films earned him the nickname "Bharat" Kumar, and many have compared him to Manoj Kumar. While speaking at a recent event, Akshay mentioned how his wife, Twinkle Khanna, teases him by asking, "How many times will you save the country?" He also mentioned that his films feature India as a champion.

Inspiration from Hollywood films

At an event put on by Republic World, the actor spoke about the several patriotic films he has done since he established his production company. Then Akshay brought up the fact that there are plenty of Hollywood films in which the USA ends a worldwide catastrophe. He disclosed that his initial impression was wrong and that India is capable of greater things.

Akshay shared that, however, if he tells something, people will see his point of view. The actor asked who always steps in to rescue the world in those epic Hollywood disaster films; whether it's an extraterrestrial invasion, a terrorist attack, a meteor shower, or some other catastrophic event, people have all seen it. And the answer is United States of America. His next thought was, "If America does everything, then when will it do anything?" He further shared that it makes clear what India is capable of and a lot can be done here too.

Success of films like Airlift and Mission Mangal

Continuing, Akshay praised his flicks Airlift and Mission Mangal for telling fresh tales set in India. He knows that such films don't do much business because people want to watch entertainment but he makes these films because his heart says so, discussing his latest movie, Sky Force, which also stars Veer Pahariya. By the way, the actor intends to continue producing films about his homeland. The most exciting thing is that when the movie comes out, that's when streaming services start showing it.

Akshay had previously mentioned that he and Twinkle hold contrasting views yet mutually respect one another. He said that they couldn't be more dissimilar. He thinks right and she thinks left. One commonality between them is their preference for sleeping early and waking up early. Playing board games like Rummy or Ludo is another pastime of theirs. Every other aspect is unique and that isn't the only thing, though. Above all else, respect is paramount. Couples don't need to share each of the 36 personality qualities that make each person unique. On the other hand, he told Galatta India that having mutual respect is a more important quality in a partner than any other quality in a relationship.
