It looks like Elon Musk and Co. have chosen to restore normalcy to a certain extent, using very specific criteria

The blue tick verification on the microblogging site Twitter has been a topic of great contention over the past couple of days, ever since Elon Musk & Co. brought the big change into effect. The CEO of Twitter's decision to charge all Twitter users a subscription fee (as part of the Twitter Blue premium service) for their coveted 'blue tick badge' was kicked in a couple of days which meant that the biggest of celebrities and social media personalities were left unverified on the platform.
Virat Kohli, Shah Rukh Khan, Rocking Star Yash, Amitabh Bachchan, and several noted names became part of this rather peculiar list, after Musk personally endorsed William Shatner, LeBron James and Stephen King for the blue tick.
However, it looks like normalcy has been restored to some extent as the blue tick verification badges reappear for a select percentage of the Twitter crowd. Although unconfirmed at the moment, it appears that the platform has reinstated the blue ticks for users who boast at least one million followers and as a result, several of the top contenders have got their well-deserved badges back. However, the seemingly automated task has given away badges to even those account holders who are deceased, which has now caused confusion among the large community.
Regardless, as it turns out, Kannada actors such as Yash, Kiccha Sudeep, Darshan Thoogudeepa, Kabzaa 2 actor Upendra, Rashmika Mandanna, etc. have got their verification badges back on Twitter and incidentally, each of them has met the '1 million and more followers' criteria.
Fellow Sandalwood superstars like Rishab Shetty, Rakshit Shetty, Shiva Rajkumar, Dhruva Sarja and many others (who do not meet the same criteria of 1 million followers) are currently unverified on the platform.
South Indian film superstars like Ram Charan, Pawan Kalyan, Jr. NTR, Megastar Chiranjeevi, Dulquer Salmaan, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Keerthy Suresh, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Suriya, Ponniyin Selvan 2 actor Karthi, and many others have been verified with the blue tick badge.
In the same vein, those users who have subscribed to the Twitter Blue Premium service ($8 or Rs. 900 per month) have received their verification tags back, regardless of their following.
