Amol Patil, an associate of director-producer Yograj Bhat, got his mentor to back his debut directorial, Udaala, which he termed is love letter to North Karnataka. Amol, who hails from the region, set his film in Vijayapura, with co-producer Ravi Shamanur’s son Pruthvi (of Padavi Poorva fame) in the lead.

A rom-com, the 2 hour 40 minute film had released in theatres in November 2025, but as has been the case with most Kannada films last year, it did not get audiences to theatres. The film has, however, managed an OTT deal and dropped on Amazon Prime Video as of January 9, 2026. It is available via OTTplay Premium too with a top-up subscription.
The film also stars Hrithika Srinivas, Bala Rajawadi, Malu Nipnal, Harish Hiriyur, Biradar, Sumit Sankoji, Vadiraj Babladi, Praveen Gasti, Govinde Gowda, Dayanand Beeligi, among others. It features music by Chetan Davy and cinematography by Shivshankar Noorambada.

The film follows Pankaj aka Pakya, a young orphaned tourist guide in Vijayapura, whose pursuit of the girl of his dreams, lands him and her in immense trouble after an unexpected run-in with a local thug, Marthanda Sathe (Raja Balawadi). Chased by Sathe’s men and the cops, Pakya has to figure out a way to disentangle himself from the mess he’s created without causing more trouble.
Pruthvi made his acting debut with Padavi Poorva, which was also the directorial debut of a Yograj associate, Hariprasad Jayanna. Udaala is his sophomore project. The actor is yet to announce his next.
