Popular editor in Telugu cinema Chota K Prasad, who is associated with this week’s release Ugram and a handful of popular films like Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada, DJ, Gaddalakonda Ganesh, Tiger, Tenali Ramakrishna BA BL and Ustaad Bhagat Singh, has added another feather to his cap. The celebrated technician was awarded at the coveted Dada Saheb Phalke International Film Festival.
At the 13th edition of the film festival, the editor won the award for an indie thriller titled ID, written and directed by Kiran Kondamadugula. Filmed in the US in Los Angeles and California, Rakesh Galebhe, Bhargava Poludasu, Sneha Murali, Sumitra Tatapudy, Ross Turner, Anirudh Kasturi played prominent roles in the film bankrolled by Harshavardhan Prathap, Bhargava Poludasu, and Subhas Ravada of Chitrom Entertainments US.
ID’s writer-director Kiran Kondamadugula, known for his short films, web show, made his directorial debut with the direct-to-OTT release, critically acclaimed Gatham (on Amazon Prime Video). The win for Chota K Prasad has given enough reason for the makers to be pleased. After making its presence felt at the festival circuit, the thriller is expected to have a theatrical/OTT release.
The story of ID revolves around Sid and Priya, who decide to move back to India and throw a party a night before. Receiving a rude shock, Sid wakes up to realise that the entire house is empty and his identity is totally wiped out. The beautiful world that Sid and Priya were planning suddenly collapses. Sid meets an attorney Dev to take up the challenging case.
Sricharan Pakala had scored the music for the film which has cinematography by Horacio Martinez. ID has already won over 19 awards at Accolade Competition, DRUK International Film Festival, Luleå International Film Festival, Tagore International Film Festival, IndieFEST Film Awards, Tokyo International Monthly Film Festival,New York Cinematography Awards and New York International Film Awards.
