Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan has never been shy to shower those who have stood by him through thick and thin with gifts. He had previously gifted bikes to personal staff including his gym trainer and even chased down a 30-year-old motorcycle that his father owned three decades ago for the latter’s 64th birthday. His latest gift was for Meppadiyan’s director Vishnu Mohan.
Unni bought for the filmmaker a Mercedes Benz GLA as a token of gratitude for what the team accomplished with the movie, which was shot during the pandemic and released in theatres in January this year.
The gift came exactly two years after the team had begun shooting the movie, which also marked the production debut of Unni Mukundan Films. “I believe this was one of the bravest acts from my side and I want to thank you for standing with me like a mountain,” wrote the actor.
This year, the film as well as the team had won several awards including Best Indian Film at Bangalore International Film Festival, Best Actor Jury Award and Best Debut Director Award at JC Daniel Foundation Awards, Best Actor (Second) at Kerala Film Critics Award and also became the first Indian film to be screened at Dubai Expo 2020.
Unni said that gift was to thank Vishnu for “the efforts you take, for being honest, devoted and the best”. The actor also clarified that this “is not a gift, this is exactly what you deserve”. Unni and Vishnu are set to team up for a political thriller next. Titled Pappan, the movie will have Unni essay the role of a politician.
Meanwhile, Unni will next be seen in the Telugu movie Yashoda, which has Samantha in the lead. The actor’s next production venture is Shefeekkinte Santosham. He also has Vysakh’s Bruce Lee, which is expected to go on floors soon.
